The 1098cc engine was designed by Percy Riley while his brother Stanley designed the bodywork. Both had a great influence on contemporary manufacturers. The Riley Nine was a market leader and achieved many successes in competition. Riley went from strength to strength developing engines and body styles. However they outstripped themselves and in February 1938 the
